XXXX
      Urban Textures

Sensual and interesting textures, patterns, and occasional optical puzzzles. Usually colorful as well.
xxxxx

XXXX
      Urban Abstracts

Focused on color, form, and composition, generally more large-scale and simple than URBAN TEXTURES.

XXXX
          Reflections

Images include intimate sights like window displays, reflected street scenes, moody mannequins, humor, and enigmatic reflections on automobiles, as well as the more monumental reflections found in "glass and steel" buildings.

XXXX
            Shadows

Images are primarily from the urban environment and generally colorful, with shadows often overlapping other textures and patterns.
xxxxx

XXXX
            Urban Art

Graffiti and other intentional, unintentional, or serendipitous artistic additions to the urban environment.
xxxxx

XXXX
         Paint Appeal

Colorful peeling paint and paper from urban and rural sources. Enigmatic overlays, delightful details (unfortunately diminished by web compression).
xxxxx

XXXX
     Weathered Wood

Richly textured woods structures and textures, painted and natural.

          Salvage Art

The junkyard is a good place to find the textures of age and interesting juxtapositions of objects.

XXXX
            Carousels

Images from four different carousels, including many extraordinary animals from the California State Fair (first image). In addition to on-carousel animal "portraits," other in situ images capture the carousel experience. Mostly horses, but also giraffes, camels, lions, rams, and close-ups.

XXXX
            Mannequins

Images of manneqins from store windows and displays, often combined in multiple exposures. Since these images are usually taken through glass, they contain reflections, irregularities, and color distortions that create a dreamy quality.
xxxxx

XXXX
       Mixed Emulsions

Multiple exposures and sandwiched images taken on color slide film. Because each roll of film had to be run through the camera twice, with the second exposure added either at random or based on notes from the first exposure, unexpected serendipitous image combinations result. Multiple exposures also create brilliant and surreal colors.

XXXX
 Mineral Micrographs

Through-the-microscope images of petrographic thin sections under polarized light. Select from 100 brilliantly colored images of different rock structures.
