Please start with one of my fine art figure exhibits PORTRAITS OF MEN REALISTIC & EXPRESSIONISTIC FIGURES PLAYFUL FIGURES ABSTRACT HUMAN FIGURES My female and male FINE ART FIGURES always begin with live models.  For male figures, I like to emphasize the power and complexity of the male musculature with interesting lines and shading; for female figures I like to do abstractions from the major sensuous shapes of the body.  My numerous portraits of men range from realistic to expressionistic to completely abstract.  Whether attracted by color, form, movement, or expression, I begin with media that are swift and sensual, and work quickly to capture the figure.  This spontaneous figure drawing may complete the art, or I may work the figure into a complex composition, often playful, energized with pattern and collage.  The inspiration for my figure drawings and paintings comes from powerful Renaissance realists like Michaelangelo, and modern masters of sensuality like Gauguin, Klimt, Matisse, Degas, and Van Gogh.  Contemporary art has branched off in many new directions, but the human figure retains its universal appeal as a fine art subject over the centuries.
