Realistic Figures and
Expressionistic Figures

I have been drawing and painting from
the human figure since 1970.  Every pose
provides a new challenge and opportunity.
Quick drawings in dry art media like
pastel or pencil I finish while the model
is posed; others I complete later in painting
or collage.  Even in my most "realistic" art,
I try to balance the character of the figure
with the character of the art media.  Visible
stroking, bold line, and patterns add energy
to the final figure work.
