Pattern Abstract Art

This decorative but philosophical non-
objective art seeks order and harmony
amidst complexity, to reveal the "divine
irregularity" of the universe. Study of
Japanese textiles, and working with
multiple exposures in my photography,
led me to overlay and mix patterns in
my art. The artistic challenge is the
sensual integration of diverse elements.
Deep viewing of these art works is a
form of spatial and spiritual meditation.

Meditative non-representational abstraction

The following six
abstractions are quite
large, so they are
particularly suited
to public spaces
and the corporate
environment.

As I was assembling
works from bits and
pieces of scrap material,
or from discarded earlier
pictures, I realized that
puzzles would provide a
readymade system of
assembly. I also like the
sensual shapes of puzzle
pieces. So I started
collecting puzzles at thrift
shops and garage sales,
and created the following
abstracts from them.

As I worked on the
puzzle pieces, I
accumulated
leftover materials
containing the
puzzle shapes. The
following abstracts
incorporate these
"throw-aways"
into original art.
